Avasar has been involved in many projects since its inception. Over the years Avasar has constantly reinvented itself to work towards an inclusive society through the medium of education.
Projects:
1. Avasar Scholarship Program – Avasar was founded to support the education of underprivileged girls with a 5 to 6 years Scholarship Program for meritorious girls from families living below the poverty line.
We do this by our Avasar Scholarship program, which consists of :
- Paying all their college fee for 6 years. 2 Years at PUC and min 3 / 4 Years at Graduate Level.
- Expenses towards books, stationery, etc.
- Bus pass for the whole year, every year, for 5 years.
- At least, 4 sets of dresses.
- A daily allowance of a minimum of Rs. 50/- per day for a minimum of 200 days in a year.
A budgeted allocation of a grant of Rs.1,80,000 per person.
2. Digital Literacy – Driving Digital Literacy is a program supported by Corporate CSR Funding. Under this program, Avasar has established state of the art Computer Labs in Government and some aided schools. Digital literacy in India is essential for any school-going child, especially in this competitive society. Therefore, Avasar doesn’t stop at building and instituting the labs, they also employ teachers to teach the course following the CBSE curriculum.
Labs have been set up in Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, and Delhi. Recently Avasar celebrated the opening of its first lab in Hyderabad.
3. Science Literacy – To drive science literacy and to create an enquiring mind, Avasar has donated Science Labs Kits to 10 Different Schools in Bangalore. These Labs are Micro Labs,
designed and developed by NCERT. It aims at aiding teaching of Physics, Chemistry and Biology by means of experiments, Visual Aids etc, these labs cost about Rs. 1.6 Lacs.
4. Spoken English for homemakers and skill development– It’s never too late to learn and Avasar knows this. The organisation holds classes for homemakers teaching them spoken English so as to help them in their daily lives in this fast-paced society. Avasar has designed a comprehensive curriculum to cater to the needs of these women. Homemakers are also being made independent through not only spoken English but cooking and Computer Science classes.
5. Avasar Playschool – This is the first of its kind initiative to start a pre-school for underprivileged children. Education is expensive and in the crucial age group between 4 to 6 years, a lot of children get left behind because they don’t have the competitive edge. Avasar is attempting to change this by making a free-of-cost playschool for the first time in government schools in Bengaluru. Th playschool is set to take off in July, 2018.
