Avasar – Opportunity Foundation Trust, has been retained by Expeditors International India Pvt Ltd, Headquartered in Gurgaon, NCR, India – a 100% subsidiary of Expeditors International (http://www.expeditors.com) – a Fortune 500 Global Logistics Leader, headquartered at Seattle, Washington, USA to be its implementation agency for its CSR Policy.

Driving Digital Literacy
As a part of this partnership, Avasar is establishing a number of computer labs in government schools, to begin with at Bangalore, followed by similar facilities at Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Gurgaon. Avasar will also run these labs as ‘Avasar Learning Centres’ to ‘Drive Digital Literacy’ by conducting Microsoft’s Digital Literacy Curriculum for the benefit of not only the school students but also members of the local communities. Each Lab is built using refurbished and certified computers and the school is provided with all related infrastructure like UPS, internet capability, projector etc and in some cases an instructor is also appointed at these labs by Avasar.
Driving Science Literacy
‘Driving Science Literacy’ is a compliment to the computer lab program and involves deployment of Micro Labs for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology designed by NCERT. 10 Schools in rural Bangalore received the science labs at a cost of Rs.16 Lakhs in FY 2016-17.
Making Graduates Employable
Avasar Leadership Academy’s at all above location will offer LEAP – Learning Employment Abilities Programs. We will use both online and instructor-led medium to conduct these sessions. Our focus will continue to remain to offer these opportunities to young, underprivileged women. Pilot Centre is opening up in Bangalore on March 18th, 2016.

Avasar Playschool
Refurbished at a cost of about Rs. 8 Lacs, the state-of-the-art playschool will be managed by The Avasar Foundation – the Implementation Agency for Expeditors. The school is equipped to handle 40 Students to begin with. Two teachers and a caretaker has been appointed to manage the school. Admissions and education at the playschool will be completely free of cost and will be purely on first come first served basis. On the occasion, Ms. Anamika Sharma also shared that Expeditors has donated 26 Computer Labs and 10 Science Labs at a total cost of about Rs. 3 Crores under its CSR Program since December 2015. A unique aspect of Expeditors CSR Program is sustainability as in addition to providing infrastructure to schools, it also provides teachers to ensure that infrastructure is put to good use.
